A work of historical fiction that centers on Hollywood's Golden Age, "Goodnight, Sweet Masochist" is a pulp noir throwback that examines the self-destructive desire for tabloid fame.
In September of 1932, actress Peg Entwistle jumped to her death from the Hollywood sign. Finding herself just as lonely and confused in death as she was in life, Peg is now desperate to get out of purgatory. Armed with only the memories of her theatrical performances, Peg decides to follow hardboiled reporter Agness Underwood as she investigates Los Angeles’ most sensational cases – for Peg believes that the key to her existence lies in the parallels she draws between the great characters of literature and the real-life stories of L.A.'s most tragic figures.
